This regulator type is used in two different configurations in the IS-MIX, partly as a buoyancy regulator for the buoyancy compensator and the suit, and as bail-out regulator in the redundant breathing system. In both cases the incoming gas passes a filter and is then fed to the pressure regulator where it is regulated down to secondary pressure.

The regulator is also fitted with a pressure safety device which compensates for the ambient pressure ensuring the secondary pressure is constant, and independent of the ambient pressure.
