Operating principle
The regulator unit is a pressure balanced piston regulator of the counter flow model. Balancing means that the reduced pressure (secondary pressure) is kept stable and is not affected by pressure fluctuations in the gas supply (primary pressure).
The regulator unit's operating principle is to work with the gas pressure when it opens. The operating principle is called counter flow regulation. Using this principle, the regulator unit has good ability to regulate the pressure down to a minimum driving pressure from the gas cylinder unit of about 17 bar (1.7 MPa).
If the gas contains moisture, ice crystals will form which could prevent the gas supply. Internal freezing could cause a total gas stoppage. Therefore, always use dry and clean gas. The regulator unit lowers the pressure to 8.5 bar (0.85 MPa) dynamic pressure. The pressure drop occurs when the gas expands, which also causes a sharp fall in temperature.
