Compensation for increasing ambient pressure

Compensation for increasing ambient pressure

The regulator is fitted with a safety pressure unit which transfers the ambient water pressure to the regulator's reference chamber. The regulator unit for pressure variations is compensated through the safety pressure unit which ensures that the pressure is constant and independent of the ambient pressure.

The safety pressure unit transfers the ambient pressure to the reference chamber.

The safety pressure unit has overpressure when compared to the ambient pressure, which means that any damage to the diaphragm prevents water from leaking into the regulator. The gas flow is restricted to the surroundings instead.

The design of the safety pressure unit means that during ascents when the ambient pressure decreases, a valve in the safety pressure attachment will open and release the gas to compensate for the reduction in pressure.
