The gas path through the canister

2 Exhaled air cleaned of carbon dioxide

The canister design for the IS-MIX is of the radial type, which means that the breathing gas flows radially through the canister. A radial design means the absorbent bed can be kept thin, i.e. the gas path through the absorbent is very short, while the active area is very large and effective in comparison to alternative solutions.

The capacity of the canister is such that, under any circumstances, it exceeds the capacity of the gas supply mounted in the IS-MIX.

The canister must always be filled with absorbent before mounting in the IS-MIX in order to eliminate the presence of lime dust that would otherwise end up in the breathing circuit when handling.

Note: WARNING!When filling or replacing the gas supply, you must always check that the remaining capacity of the absorbent is adequate for the planned dive. The recommendation is to install a new canister in the IS-MIX when replacing the gas cylinder. If the absorbent is not replaced within the specified capacity, this will result in an raised CO2 content, and this in turn will lead to a heightened respiratory rate, nausea, anxiety, decompression sickness or death.
