The excess gas from the overpressure valve is discharged into a diffuser, which is a rubber bag perforated with very small holes. The holes allow the volume of gas to dissolve into very small bubbles which flow out in the form of a cloud from the IS-MIX, thereby reducing the acoustic effect of the bubbles. The diffuser is mounted by hand on the cover and fastened with straps.
