Buoyancy compensator

Buoyancy compensator

  1. Rinse the outside of the inflator, cylinders, jacket weights with fresh water to remove any visible dirt, use a brush if necessary. Detergent or hand soap can be used.
  2. Rinse the inside of the buoyancy compensator's bladder by partially filling it with fresh water through the inflator's mouthpiece. “Slosh” the water around to dissolve any salt crystals (salt crystals can damage the bladder over time). Drain the bladder as much as possible of water through the drain valves and the inflator and repeat rinsing if necessary.
  3. Blow up the buoyancy compensator using the inflator until the overpressure valves opens.
  4. Connect the bail-out breathing valve and press the push button to flush the valve.
  5. Remove the buoyancy gas and bail-out gas cylinders and blow the gas cylinders clean.
