Apparatus flooded
If a major leak occurs, water will quickly penetrate into the breathing circuit.
This can be heard as a bubbling sound during inhalation and exhalation, and perceived as increased breathing resistance.
Abort the dive and return to the surface.
Perform a by-pass continuously which provides fresh gas directly into the breathing hose.
Turn your body so that the left half of the IS-MIX comes up (inhalation side).
If there is a minor leak in the breathing circuit and/or an accumulation of a lot of condensation from a long or repeated dive, this may interfere and cause an increased breathing resistance and gurgling noise when inhaling and exhaling as a result.
This water can be drained from the circuit during the dive as follows:
- Place your body at a 45º angle with your head highest.
- Turn your body so that the left half of the IS-MIX comes up.
- Shake the exhalation hose to drain water down to the canister housing.
- Perform a by-pass and take a breath at the same time.
- Hold your breath and lean your body forwards 45º while turning your body to the original position ensuring the water runs down into the bellows.
- Perform a by-pass so the water is pressed out of the IS-MIX.
- Perform a by-pass continuously, lean your body to the original position and simultaneously turn your body ensuring the left half of the IS-MIX comes up.
- Take a gentle breath and feel that no water (splashes) enters when inhaling.
- Check that the IS-MIX does not have a permanent leak and that any deposited water is satisfactorily drained .
- Continue dive, if applicable.
Interspiro recommends aborting the dive at the slightest uncertainty!
