Special consideration must be given to the temperature and light for long-term storage. These factors affect the equipment's ageing considerably. The equipment must also be protected from dirt/dust and moisture.

Storage in environments where the equipment is subjected to knocks and impacts is not appropriate. Weights for buoyancy are more insensitive to the storage environment than other equipment, and are not affected by, among other things, light and temperature.

The equipment must be completely dry before being put into storage.
