Check of the bail-out breathing system

Check of the bail-out breathing system

  1. Remove the protective plug from the cylinder valve on the bail-out gas cylinder using a 23 mm U spanner.
  2. Remove the safety plug on the bail-out breathing regulator's hand wheel coupling.
  3. Check that the cylinder connection and hand wheel coupling are free from water, particles and other dirt. Make sure the O-ring on the high pressure connection is not damaged and in position.
  4. Blow the cylinder connection by quickly opening and re-closing the cylinder valve.
  5. Screw in the hand wheel coupling in the cylinder valve and tighten by hand only.
  6. Connect the bail-out breathing valve to the full face mask and open the cylinder valve. Check the bail-out breathing valve by breathing into it.
  7. Close the cylinder valve and check that the pressure does not drop over a period of 10 s, either by monitoring the mini pressure gauge or lowering the bail-out breathing system in water to search for leaks.
